VINE
How we helped Vine create a user-centered digital hub for Family Violence Resources
Vine (Violence Information Aotearoa) needed a website to match its mission as New Zealand’s central hub for family and sexual violence information.
With a complex site structure and diverse user needs, Double partnered with Vine to create an intuitive, inclusive platform grounded in Te Tiriti and Mātauranga Māori. The result is a modern, accessible site that makes critical information easy to find.

The Challenge
When the national centre for research and information on family and sexual violence rebranded from the New Zealand Family Violence Clearinghouse (NZFVC) to Violence Information Aotearoa (Vine), they needed more than just a new name and logo.
Their existing website had become difficult to navigate, with critical resources buried in a complex structure that no longer served their diverse audience effectively.
Vine supports multiple stakeholder groups, including policymakers, researchers, service providers and affected individuals. They needed a digital platform that could efficiently connect each user type with the information they were looking for. With their Koha Library system housing a wealth of valuable research, seamless integration between the main website and the library system was essential.

Our Approach
Double developed a comprehensive strategy that placed users at the centre of every decision. We began with a discovery phase to deeply understand Vine’s unique challenges.
In-depth stakeholder analysis:
We worked closely with the Vine team to review detailed personas representing researchers, community workers, policy advisors, educators, support workers, and those seeking help. This ensured the final site delivered a meaningful experience for each unique user journey.

User journey mapping:
We identified critical pathways through the site for each persona, simplifying a complex information structure into intuitive, user-friendly flows.
